The story
My school bus drove by this house every day when I went to Hollywood High School. I knew that one day I would live there. Little did I know that would come true.
Years later I saw the house go on the market and off the market three different times. It was being sold as “The Samuel Goldwyn House.” After viewing it, I knew it had to have been built by a major architect. The house was dilapidated and falling apart. It had been neglected and was basically a falling-down flophouse for the ten people who lived in it.
When I went to purchase it, I was up against a developer who wanted to tear it down and build condos. I called the owner and said, “Look, I can’t compete with this group, but I can promise you I won’t tear it down. I will restore it to its beauty.” He decided to go with my offer. The rest is history.
